Podcasts, Decks, Infographics - its a multimodal feast

One of the most compelling features of NotebookLM is the variety of formats in which it can generate content. Are you a visual learner - it can create decks and infographics; do you prefer your learning as audio - it can create podcasts; want to practice concepts - try out the flashcards and quizzes.

Right now, I see three ways to categorize these assets (and keep in mind, they regularly keep adding to the kinds of outputs NotebookLM is capable of generating):

  1. Can you customize the prompt? In some cases, you can write a complete prompt (reports); in others you can tweak specific features (a deep dive podcast versus an overview).

  2. Can you export the output? Most assets can be exported with the exception of flashcards and quizzes (as of this date), but that text can still be copied. My favorite is the feature that allows you to export certain content directly into Google Drive as Docs or Sheets.

  3. Can you edit the output? This for me is the weakest link currently - right now the deck, when exported, is a series of images versus slides with text and visual components. If you want to edit the infographic, you have to find a workaround, say with Canva.

The video below explains what each asset is, as well as where it falls in the above three categories.
